About John

John Mieras is an independent singer-songwriter from Colorado. He moved to Boulder and completed a masters degree in choral music following a degree in music education. His formal training was augmented early on by picking bluegrass fiddle tunes with his beloved grandpa, Papa who always said, "I taught Johnny 3 chords and he took it from there." John was on to writing his own songs that very day.

John was always interested in songwriting and patterned his early music after his heroes, Lennon & McCartney. His current favorites and influences include: Gregory Alan Isakov, Josh Ritter, Anais Mitchell, Storyhill, and Bon Iver,

John is most recently a finalist in the Great American Song Contest, singer-songwriter category with his song, "Yesterday (I Wish There Was a Way)".

John finds inspiration in his family, students, songwriting friends, and the mysterious beauty of music.
